Niger Delta Exploration & Production Plc (NDEP) was proud to support the 15th Aret Adams Memorial Lecture Series, organized by the Aret Adams Foundation.
The lecture focused on the theme “Refineries in Nigeria: Challenges and Opportunities”. The Chairman of the occasion was Dr. Jackson Gaius-Obaseki, Former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) & Chairman Brass LNG Nigeria Limited.
Addressing the theme, Engr. Anthony Ogbuigwe, FNSE, FNSChE, FIChemE (Past President, African Refiners Association & Managing Consultant, PEJAD Nig. Ltd) gave a very thorough overview of the Refining sector in Nigeria, from its early history to the present-day challenges.
The Ogbele Mini Refinery, operated by NDPR (a fully owned subsidiary of NDEP Plc), was highlighted by Engr. Ogbuigwe as a success story of local refining capacity, which strengthened his suggestion for partial/full privatization of Nigeria’s refineries, with wider implementation of modular refineries as a feasible solution to Nigeria’s over reliance on imported petroleum products.
Dr ‘Layi Fatona, MD, commented, ‘As an organization, NDEP would not exist without the foresight and vision of our founding fathers, in particular our pioneer Chairman, Late Chief Aret Adams. As a company, NDEP supports the Aret Adams Lecture Series and other events in memory of the wonderful legacy he bequeathed to the Company and all who knew him.’
The 15th Aret Adams Memorial Lecture Series was held on 1 March 2018 at the Muson Centre and was attended by key stakeholders in the Oil and Gas industry, financial institutions as well as captains of industries. The program ended with the presentation of Plaques of Appreciation by Mrs. Izarene Adams.
