Niger Delta Petroleum Resources Ltd (NDPR), a subsidiary fully owned by Niger Delta Exploration & Production, has announced that its 100 MMscfd Ogbele Gas Processing Plant has been successfully commissioned.
- Specifically, the Gas Dehydration System, Gas Metering System, Pig Launcher and the 20km 12” Gas Pipeline are now in operation, which has led to the commercialization of the gas resources at Ogbele Field. Since First Gas, the Plant has attained the milestone of 6 billion scf gas from its Gas Processing Plant, with the Gas supplied to the NLNG, at Bonny.
Gas Production has enabled NPDR to effectively eliminate gas flaring from the oil production operations at Ogbele, except for process control, when there is need. NDPR is thereby fully compliant with the Federal Government’s Zero Gas Flare policy, which is a small step towards the nation’s environmental, resource conservation and utilisation objectives.
Dr. ‘Layi Fatona, MD, NDPR, said, ‘After many tests and stringent quality controls, I am pleased to state that the Ogbele Gas Processing Plant has been commissioned and has attained the significant milestone of 6 billion scf gas. The Gas Utilisation Project, which started some years ago, is now almost complete and has ensured that the maximum value is harnessed from Ogbele, enabling NDPR to benefit from a diversified income stream. NDPR is now the first Independent, indigenous operator to deliver such gas off-take to the NLNG Bonny Terminal. Many thanks to all who have contributed to the commissioning of the Gas Plant.’’
To cater to the domestic market, the commissioning of the NGL (Natural Gas Liquids), LPG and propane extraction component is currently ongoing.
