Niger Delta Petroleum Resources Ltd (NDPR) inaugurated the 3rd Board of Trustees of the pioneering Host Community Environment & Development Trust at a recent ceremony in Port Harcourt.
The inaugurated Trustees were Chief Chambers O. Oyibo (Chairman), Dr. Tobias Simon T. Toby, Dr (Mrs.) Esohe Molokwu, Dr. (Mrs) Georgiana Ngeri Nwagha, Chief Enyinda Chukwu, and Mr, Ede Osayande. The collective skills and experience of the Trustees will be of immense benefit to the host communities.
In almost 15 years of existence, NDPR’s Host community Development Trust has successfully implemented many projects to the benefit of host community residents. Skills acquisition training, provision of civic infrastructure, electrification and healthcare facilities have all contributed to the social and economic wellbeing of host community residents. These achievements would not have been possible without a very committed and competent Board of Trustees, and the dedicated staff of NDPR.
Addressing the incoming Trustees, ‘Dr Fatona, MD, urged them to ‘Raise the bar with respect to service by setting new standards to ensure that NDPR continues to enjoy the trust, peace and tranquility by reason of the operation of the Trust in the host communities.’
The newly appointed Chairman of the BOT, Chief Chambers O. Oyibo, commented, ‘I am honored to receive this appointment. The solid foundation laid by the BOT predecessors will be built upon and we will ensure that the host communities will enjoy sustainable development within the resources available to the Trust.’
Dr Fatona also used the occasion to thank the out-going members of the BOT, led by Prof. Sylvanus J. S. Cookey, OFR, for six years of meritorious service to the Trust. He commended the past Trustees for their commitment to the Trust project.
The ceremony was held on 9 November 2016 and the first plenary of the BOT is scheduled to take place on 14 December 2016 in Port Harcourt.
