NDPR – Ogbele Gas Project wins an International Award – 2015 Global Gas Flare Reduction Excellence Award
The World Bank Group, the Global Gas Flaring Reduction Partnership (GGFR), and the government of Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Yugra (KMAO), Russian Federation have recently selected NDPRs Ogbele Gas Development Project for an award recognizing its significant contributions towards global gas flaring reduction.
NDPR will be conferred with the award during the 4th Global Forum to beheld on September 9-10, 2015 in Khanty-Mansiysk, and in attendance will be the Russian Federation’s Minister of Energy, Alexander Novak; Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Sergey Donskoy; senior government officials; oil company representatives; technology providers, consultants, development institutions, among others.
In a message acknowledging the receipt of the award notification by the Managing Director of NDPR, Dr. ‘Layi Fatona, he included for recognition, Niger Delta Exploration & Production Plc. (The parent company), The Department of Petroleum Resources (D.P.R.), The Nigerian Liquefied & Natural Gas Ltd. (NLNG) and Skye Bank Plc. as other institutions who were instrumental to the successful implementation of the project.
The department of petroleum resources (D.P.R.) on August 25, 2015 in a Press Release signed by its management expressed with great pride the recognition of an indigenous company as the winner of this international award, and stated that this achievement further testifies to Nigeria’s progress in its efforts to strengthen indigenous capacity in adhering to international best practices. It further commended the Management and staff of NDPR in assuring gas flare reduction in the Ogeble field project in line with the Governments flare down policy.
The press release also acknowledged NDPR as being the 1st indigenous company with fully integrated oil & gas operations across the entire value chain of the Nigerian oil & gas sector. D.P.R. also assured their continued support and guidance to all operators in an effort to encourage optimal productivity of their respective assets in line with global standards, as this will ensure a positive economic growth in Nigeria and sustainable development in the sector.
